SDH Bangka’s Easter 2017 takes the theme of The Precious Cross, a theme that gives priority to the contemplation and appreciation of the meaning of the cross that is so precious, which is irreplaceable with anything in this world.
The Easter’s event took place on April 21, 2017. After the devotion session ended, the students made an egg holder. The Kindergarten students cut and folded the colorful rabbit-shaped templates. The Junior students made the Easter rabbit from paper. The Senior students got an A4 white manila carton and each created their own egg holder.
The activity of making egg holder was followed by egg hunt. The students hunted the eggs that have been hidden before. The top three groups who were succesful to get the largest number of eggs per level became the winner. After hunting, the students gathered at the meeting points of each level to hear an explanation of the Easter egg culture that was delivered by their teacher.
Furthermore, the Easter service was ministered by G.I. Mercy Matter (GRII). She explained that the "cross" was the most despicable punishment of Roman rule. The criminals were willingly punished by any punishment as long as it was not crucified. We should remember that the one who deserve that punishment is all of us, sinful human being
of His love and obedience, Jesus willingly substituted our place. Now, the cross is a symbol of glory, for through the death of Jesus on the cross, man is redeemed and delivered from the power of sin. In the Easter service, it was also included the performance of Via Dolorosa lyrical dance and "The Precious Cross" choir.
