SDH Bangka students won first place in the language debate competition – OLSN District
FLS2N and OLSN for Junior High School level at Bangka Tengah district was held on April 27, 2017. SDH Bangka team was successful to achieve one championship by Samuel Kenneth – Grade 7 in Indonesian Debate competition.
During the competition, both in elimination and final round, Samuel performed well by delivering all argumentation from all the insights that he has. In elimination round, Samuel who got neutral position for the theme “In order to increase the regional income, BUMD can do mining and sell the mining products to foreign party”, he agreed that BUMD does mining providing that they already go through the procedure of the applicable license application. The mining itself must be done with safe procedures for the environment and the mining’s portion should be considered well so that the next generation still be able to enjoy the local mines wealth. About selling the mining products to foreign party, Samuel emphasized the importance of establishing percentage of the quantity of selling products. Samuel explained that the local communities should be the first party who enjoy that wealth of mining product, then Indonesia as general.
According to those argumentation, Samuel was successful to enter the final round (3 participants). The debate theme was “Foreign illegal fishing ship entering and catching fish in Indonesia can be directly drowned without judicial process first.” For this theme, Samuel got a pro position. Samuel explained that Indonesia has a right to drown the foreign ships who take fish in Indonesia sea territory without judicial process first. These were some of his arguments. First, Indonesia needs to protect the natural wealth in Indonesia sea territory. Second, for the foreign ships who enter Indonesia territory, then Indonesian law is valid to be executed. Third, Indonesia has already done some warnings and preventions for those foreign illegal ships.
Although, all the competitors in the final round are ‘tough opponent’, but finally jury decided Samuel to be the champion and deserved to represent Central Bangka district to the Provinces level. Congratulations to Samuel!
