TROPHIES FOR SDH BANGKA
BEO (Bangka English Olympics) for Junior and Senior High School was held on October 27th, 2017 for the Technical Meeting and on October 28th – October 29th, 2017 for the competition. In this event, there were five different fields, which were Speech, Spelling Bee, Scrabble, English Debate and Story Telling. SDH Bangka’s representatives were successful in taking 2 trophies through Samuel Geralda Bertrand – Grade 8 Scrabble competition for Junior High School students and through Edrick Janssen Raynold Totong, Fanisa Prajogo and Ferel Esra Hosia – Grade 11 Science and Social in English Debate competition for Senior High School students.
Throughout the competition, both in preliminary and final round, the representatives of SDH performed very well from the insights that they have. With the total of 5 rounds for each field in the competition, SDH representatives got through it well. For the Scrabble competition in the final, Samuel Geralda had a draw and needed to play into the next round to decide the winner. Despite many exhausting round of playing Scrabble, Samuel Geralda managed to prove himself as the best and became the champion.
For English Debate Competition, in preliminary round, SDH’s team debated with the theme of “Sex Education should be taught at school”. Through the arguments given by SDH’s team, SDH managed to rank second in the preliminary round and made it to the semifinal. In the semifinal and final, the theme were “Euthanasia should be legalized” and “AI (Artificial Intelligence) needs to be stopped”. The arguments provided by SDH’s team had made SDH team to be the 2nd runner up of the competition.
