A unique and festive event, Book Week was held at SDH Holland Village on February 20-24, 2016. On this event, “Heidi”, a book written by Juana Spyri, was chosen to become the discussion topic. Taking the theme “Spread Your Joy”, this event is aimed at encouraging students to have a passionate interest towards reading and to motivate them to spread their happiness to others. As simple as it sounds, the name of the event doesn’t really do you justice, for that isn’t the case at all. Lots of activities were included there, and, believe me, surprises will hit you once you become a student and participate.

Students in the Book Week took part in SSR (Sustained Silent Reading), which is more like an everyday activity. Reading Aloud, an activity where the teachers read HEIDI’s story for the students to review and reflect on it. Reading Buddy, where senior students get paired up with junior students and read to them a story book. And last but not least is the culminating event, a drama based on the story “Heidi”. All in all, Book Week is a fun, fair, and creative event with an inspiring purpose behind it.
