Thanks be to God for His grace right on Thursday, May 3, 2018 this activity can be held at Sekolah Dian Harapan Holland Village. In this activity the parents of grade 2A and 2B demonstrated their participation to equip themselves as parents and primary educators for their children. This activity started with the remarks from the Junior Principal Sekolah Harapan Holland Village, Deny Kiswanto Sinaga M.Ed., he was also at the same time open this activity with the opening prayer.

This theme is chosen because based on the observation of the homeroom teachers both in grade 2A and 2B, the students are still struggling to capture the concept and solve the word problems by using the model taught in school. Therefore, the teacher chose this topic to equate perceptions between parents and teachers so that parents as the main educators can teach it to their children at home with the same concept that is taught in school.

This topic is useful to help children specifically in solving the word problem (addition and subtraction) of math by using the model. The understanding and concepts taught on this topic are useful not only in the math 'word problem' but also in their daily lives how they can solve the problems they face by applying what they have learned in school. This lesson also becomes the basis for them to study the same topics about 'word problem at the next level when they are in grade 3, 4 and so on.

In addition to listening to the materials delivered by the teachers of grade 2 there was also workshop to facilitate parents to practice to teach the topics explained in this activity to their children by answering some Mathematics "word problems". Overall, this activity runs smoothly and the parents enjoyed and followed by giving good participation. Hopefully through this activity, parents will be equipped better to carry out their duties as the main educators and also can build a good cooperation between parents and teachers as their partners in educating their children.

May through this PALs activity God’s name can be glorified.
