Proverbs 22:6 “If a child is trained up in the right way, even when he is old he will not be turned away from it” (Basic English Bible)

It has been a joy for SDH Holland Village to have a distinguish speaker on the event of Parents as Learners. The event was on Saturday August 4th, 2018 special for Kindergarten 1 and 2 parents. Entitled with “Peran Orangtua dalam Mendidik Anak-Anak Milenal, Bpk. Pdt.Jonathan W. Lo and Ibu Gunawati Tjioe, B.Ed., M.Pd., Ph.D shared the material adorably yet tangible.

To be parents were a dream of people mostly. However, there were no school to study how to be godly parents. Sekolah Dian Harapan agreed that parents are the prime educator for the student. By holding an event such as parents as learners, we offer an opportunity for parents to be equipped in educating the child better. The current topic of PAL’s came from the struggle of parents to educate the children in this era. Parents were no longer confuse how to deal with millennial child. This seminar was trying to hit the nail on the head.

Overall about the seminar, it was divided into three session. First session led by Bpk. Pdt.Jonathan W. Lo which reminded the audience about biblical concept of parents’ role. Then the next session led by Ibu Gunawati elaborated the treasure parents have to offer to their children. As the last session, parents could ask question and it had been answered by the speaker.

Educating children is supposed to be an act together. Parents and school are working together for the growth of each child. As mentioned in Proverbs 22:6 “If a child is trained up in the right way, even when he is old he will not be turned away from it” , may Jesus Christ enable each party to bear the responsibility in His grace. We will continually open the opportunity for parents to learn together in a seminar called parents as learner. See you on the next PAL’s.
