Retreat Kelas 7 & 10

November 6-8, 2019 were joyful and blessed days for the 7th and 10th graders of SDH HV because they went on a retreat at Alamanda, Tomohon.

The theme of the retreat was, "Union with Christ," which is based on John 15. Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. If we remain in Him and He in us, we will bear much fruit.

During this retreat, the students were taught that that they are to be united with Christ. The retreat theme was closely related to the annual school theme, "In You Ever After," in which the students are reminded throughout the academic year that they are to live in Christ forever.

Not only did the students listen to the speakers but they also were engaged in fun and meaningful activities.

The students danced, sang songs to God, and performed a drama. The students also individually practiced "Lectio Divina" or Divine Reading, an activity where the students read God's word, meditate on it, and cherish it. They chose a comfortable spot for them to sit and enjoy the Word of God. Not only that, the students also contemplated God's word while enjoying the warmth of a bonfire at night.

During that opportunity, the students raised their hands, signaling the teachers to pray for them. Each student also took some time to talk to the teacher to share their life problems or fears in life.

On the last day of retreat, the students participated in activities that involved moving their bodies. In the morning, the students exercised together. After that, the students played outdoor games that required them to be creative and cooperative with each other. At the end, the students should realize that creativity and good relations with others are the fruit of being united with Christ.

This retreat would be one of the most memorable and valuable experiences for the students. It is our hope that the students are constantly reminded that they belong to Christ, either at school or at home.
