Book week was held on February 8-14, 2017. This event was to improve the interest of student, teacher/staff and parents to read books. There were some activities that we did together such as SSR (Sustained Silent Reading), Reading Buddies, Book Fair, Read Aloud, Book Donation and Culminating Activities (introduction to local hero characters and places). The local hero characters that was discussed in this event were:

  • Prof. Dr. Ir. Herman Johannes, an independence hero who has been active in common assault 1 March at Yogyakarta
  • Prof. Dr. Wilhelmus Zakaria Johannes, the first Indonesian that has been a radiologist and the first X-ray expert. He has given much influences in the development of medical science in Indonesia
  • IH Doko has influence in establishing Yupenkris GMIT which supporting the establishment of GMIT Elementary Schools in all corners of NTT

We learn those hero characters so that the students were able to know the heroism that God has granted to the place where the students grow, take the fighting spirit as a model, and give thanks to God for their contribution to Indonesia.
