The field trip was held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. They went to the National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS) and the National Museum.

BASARNAS

The students followed some activities, such as:

1. Watching BASARNAS profile video. This activity aims to build awareness and care to others who are facing difficulties or hardships and to help the best they can.

2. Visiting the control room. This activity is to show the fact that as an archipelago country, besides the beauty, Indonesia also holds catastrophic potentials. The student can participate actively to give help using their capability and capacity.

3. Doing self-help basic technique when facing earthquake in a building.

4. Doing train and ATV car simulations as a victim to learn how to handle fear, panic, and anxiety.

All these activities in BASARNAS are in correlation with Dian Harapan graduate profile, which stated that: showing empathy to other (#3), celebrating the beauty of God’s creation (#5), showing respect and commitment to serve the community (#8), using the capabilities and talents for the glory of God (#9), and having the wisdom, as well as strong character, to take the action needed (#10).

National Museum

The visit to the National Museum was meant for the students to learn about Indonesian history and all its national heritage and culture. This could be done by the hands of God so that the result could be seen and enjoyed by a lot of people. The historical value can be obtained in the form of stories, items and tools (carvings or paintings, and the treasure in gold and silver) in the old times. Through these activities, it is expected that students love Indonesia more and have a respect to the culture heritage, and also realize, this is a gift from God to Indonesia.

These activities help the students to be the person, as mentioned in the Dian Harapan graduate profile, who knows the truth and the sovereignty of God over all His creation (#4), respects the Indonesian culture and commits in serving the community (#8), shows creativity and artistic expression to glorify God (#17), demonstrates the truth and justice, and also God’s grace wherever they are (#23).

Be a part of our lifelong,
transformative learning community today.
